The Influence of Negativity.

negativity1It feels good to get back to writing. Today I am writing on a topic that I am seeing more and more online.  It’s called negativity.  What does negativity have to do with network marketing?  Actually a great deal.  A business, a career, a life style, the individual can all be severely affected by negativity.

Perhaps it’s a reflection of the mood in our society.  People are edgy, fearful, wondering what is going to happen next.  They worry about how they will provide for their families.  The “what if’s” never seem to be too far away.  You don’t have to look far to see negativity here online.  Visit a group chat on Skype or any other social media and if it is not moderated, you will find it.

Negativity Is Counterproductive In a Chat Room

Chat groups can be a great source for support and training, but if not moderated closely, they can be full of negativity.  It is rare for a business to run smoothly all the time, especially in thenegativity is contagious beginning and for someone to take an issue, which may not even be an issue at all, and blow it out of proportion. The problem may not be with the business, but due to the affilliate not following directions or not completing their set up.  They bring the issue to the chat group instead of taking it to member support or their upline.

Imagine the newbie coming into such a chat group!  What in the world is he going to think?!  He has come to the chat group looking for support and training and rub elbows with mentors  and instead he gets to listen to bashing and complaining.

Going Too Far–Taking Down A Business With Negativity

negativityNegativity from scam reports can do a great deal of damage to a company. They make negative statements about a company that aren’t always true or factual, cause it sells copy.  People read these reports.  They assume that the information is correct, and share the information with others, damaging the reputation of the company or worse yet, shutting them down.

The company, who likely has done nothing wrong, suddenly finds themselves defending baseless claims, taking valuable time, resources, and energy that could be put to better use.  The affilliates don’t know what to think, they are fearful that the company they have grown to trust and depend on may needlessly be shut down.

Getting Rid of The Negativity

negativity compassSo how can we guard ourselves against negativity?  Here are a few suggestions:

  • If you are in a chat room or group and there is a lot of negativity going on, dont add fuel to the fire by taking part.
  • Step up and defend your company if you feel they are being unfairly attacked.
  • If you are the one who has a problem with something your company is doing or not doing, don’t bring it to the floor of the chat room. Instead take it to your upline in private, or take it to the company customer support. They will best be able to help you, saving you a lot of stress and frustration, and get you back to feeling good about the business you are building.
  • Adopt a positive stedfast attitude that you are going to do whatever it takes to be successful will help you over the rough spots. Use negativity as an opportunity to learn, gain strength, and build faith and make it a positive!

What you think about you bring about.  A POWERFUL truth that can literally change outcomes and events and the direction of your life.    So let’s park being negative, don’t give it importance.  Focus on the positive instead of negativity, give thanks for our blessings and our God given abilities.

    Great points. A few years back negative comments in the right (wrong) place regarding a ad-viewing company that was doing well by its members brought in US Attorney who shamefully shut it down, confiscated all the members funds and has never returned the funds. All to help us, the members. Right.
